I was very keen to buy this house when it came on the market a couple of years ago but Harry wouldn’t even look at it!
On the wrong side of the road, garden facing north, right next to a busy Italian restaurant & no parking space for extra cars!
I still look at it when I walk last...seemed expensive at the time but not now!
A quick photo as I walked past...I felt self conscious taking a photo! Should have stood further back to fit the other side in as well.
Three good things:
1. Second covid jab! A slight headache at the moment but no heart rhythm problem this time touch wood!
2. I visited my friend in her new temporary house...she likes the underfloor heating! Socially distanced but able to meet up in garden!
3. Unread magazines coming my way while hairdressing salons closed! From my hairdresser salon owner niece via her mum to me!
Looks lovely! But I'd agree with Harry about north facing garden! The north side of our house is rather bleak while the sunny south side is full of sprouting plants and buds. Hoping the snow forecast for us this weekend doesn't blast them!!
Glad you had 2nd vaccine. X
It looks a neat , tidy and well maintained house Pat , but I do not like pebble-dashed (or whatever they call it these days ) for 3 main reasons - you do not know what is hidden behind it , , it can look tired and stained over the years and if re painted - the cost !! And a north facing garden -- I am 100 % with Harry - sorry Pat ! Glad you've had your 2nd vac - hope no ill effects this time !
@beryl@sarah19 Ha ha...I shan’t tell him I have been out voted! Your right I’d course & I agree with you totally plus our bungalow is much more sensible!
It’s got an Easter wreath too! Doesn’t sound ideal but it looks very nice! Our garden is north facing but generally so long that it doesn’t matter although there are times in the summer when we think the day has cooled off and we go out of the front door and get knocked over by the heat!
@judithg It’s such a pretty house & the magnolia is the finishing touch! An Easter wreath...that’s what it is! We seem to have quite an abundance of wreaths on doors just now! I laughed at your words! The sun makes such a difference...there us me a bit worried how hot our house is going to get facing the sun most of the day!
Of course I see the eggs now!
More light in the bungalow I bet. And that lovely light garden. We get taken in by period houses because they're on the TV more but not necessarily the best to live in!
@fueast Oh yes there will be lots of light.....I’m not used to,lots of light having lived in an old house with smallish windows for the past 21 years....will be a change!
It does look nice but sometimes we look at houses with a romantic eye rather than a practical one. When we first moved up here from Melbourne we saw a house in Nelson Bay that had a 2400 sq ft cellar under the house that would have been ideal for David's railway. Unfortunately, the house had only 3 bedrooms and we wanted 4, the bathrooms were old and needed replacing, the kitchen was dark, rooms small. The property backed onto bushland which looked pretty but not good for snakes or bushfires etc. Need I go on ha ha.
David still talks about that house with a romantic eye.
@onewing Yes heart sometimes over rules head Babs.....you have to think of every angle but every time I walk past this house I sigh.....the restaurant next door is empty now & the road at the back to the garage has been stoned whereas it was pot holes.....I could go on but I know when I move back into my sunny easy run home I will think it’s the best! Poor David I know how he feels....he will have that cellar filled with train tracks .....the snakes idea would be a no no there fir me too though! Sense prevails! X
I love the door and windows of this house. But I think you made the right decision. Your new home will be so perfect...just as you want it when the renovation is complete!
Things happen for a reason, it might have wonky plumbing too. Once you are able to get into your new house, it will be just right for you, and almost all brand new from top to bottom.
Glad you had 2nd vaccine. X
Of course I see the eggs now!
