The Royal Iris by helenhall

The Royal Iris

Today involved a lot of rain and getting wet but it was worth it for the atmosphere, experience and interest of a trip on the Mersey Ferry and a look around Liverpool docks and beyond.

Struggling to get a chance to stop and view and comment on all of your projects. Hope to do so soon.
Fabulous shot. Is this the original Royal Iris. I used to travel on the Royal Iris ferry each time we went to Liverpool when I was a child.

Love this scene. It so resembles the big ports here, both in industrial views and common weather.

A moody shot. I hope you enjoyed Liverpool? I go there quite a bit for both culture (The Tate) and photography. I love the people they are so friendly!

@noko411 @leestevo thank you. A gloomy but atmospheric scene .. it seems I conveyed this suitably.

@marshwader yes a great trip and a first. Until now and for the last ten years or so all our trips back to Cheshire were about helping with care of housebound mum. I hope to go back again.

This is a great shot of the ferry coming out of the mist Helen. I love the bow wave - it gives a real sensation of it travelling towards you.

I'm sure you know what old song this brings to mind! I love your comp and the contrast between the relative clarity of the ferry and the misty objects further away. Fav.

@helenhall Yes Stephanie - they played us snippets of the song on the ferry which was a bit unnecessary although the commentary was interesting. Thank you for your encouraging comments.
