We browsed the library of walking books in the Inn where we were staying and came to a mutual agreement that we should tackle the highest point in Southern Britain. Even though feeling somewhat unenthusiastic, bloated from the rich and excellent food and drink of the night before, and weary from previous days exploits.
Not wanting to take the easy route (known by locals as the motorway) we took the car through hill and dale to our starting point and set off with teeth gritted.
How we were rewarded. The sun shone, the views were panoramic, the landscape rewarding, and there is nothing better than looking down, into the distance, surveying the valley through which you have traversed upwards to finally climb to the summit.
Having said all of that, this view from the top happens to be the opposite direction to the one we came up, which made a better picture. At least I currently think so, it is difficult to choose. I seem to get some distortion with my panoramic shots and have some rather worrying marks on pale skies that indicate some markings on the lens which have spoiled a number of my pictures.
Really gorgeous, and brava to you for doing the climb, fav for me. The marks could mean that your camera sensor needs cleaning. A good camera store will probably do it for you at a price (around here it's about $40).
This view is stunning and a good job it was a fine day. The Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains have so many moods and you've captured a good one on this day.
Wow!!! What a great view, this is just beautiful!!! I'm sorry about the lens (although I can't see any evidence of that here :) !) Incidentally, I have the same issue where there is a darker spot on my lens - perhaps we should heed Stephanie's advice!
@tristansmum@kerosene thanks for the advice Stephanie and yes this is definitely worth investigating. I get a few spots that are a bit darker. I can edit the out with a bit of fiddling..or at least make them less noticeable but it's annoying. We used to have two camera shops in bedford but now none. So need to venture further afield. Thanks both for comments.
