I am struggling with creativity and lack of inspiration this week but determined to continue on as best I can. I was particularly irritated today by the lack of aesthetics of the light switches around me, having spotted that the mundane challenge is light switch! In particular, my usual irritation at the crude labelling of this switch at work was heightened. Then, on the way out this evening, I had a bizarre conversation with a colleague about making sure that the stair light was off - the instructions didn't appear to be helping us at all!
Dictionary definition number 3 of mundane - "Belonging to this earth or world; not ideal or heavenly" Surely no one can argue with this.
This is fab! we all try and look for creative beautiful photos and this is just so 'every day' that its almost modern art! Made me smile trying to work it out!...hope the correct light was left on!
I certainly relate to your feeling of lack of inspiration. Hang in there, it will come when you least expect it. Something will catch your eye. I agree with Kate... You have inspired me to look at light switches now :-)
@helenm2016@kali66@janemartin@kategoring@jeetee I was watching an Anthony Morganti YouTube recently and he said don't go out looking for a particular thing to photograph. His advice was to go out empty and then all the different possibilities appear. I think your photo definitely fits the "mundane" definition. It put a big smile on my face. Following! I like your sense of humor.
@moonmtn great advice to pass on! :) @helenhall this is such a fun photo Helen, it's amazing all those instructions needed since it's not installed logically! :) :)
Certainly amusing...on so many levels! You are definitely quite a character, Helen! I always enjoy your narratives. Terrific find for the mundane light switch challenge. :-)
@moonmtn thanks for the follow - much appreciated. The first time I have been followed for my sense of humour. We will have to see if it can be maintained!
Well seen! Good artists can see the mundane and the banal and make something of it. This image has a strange narrative, even if you hadn't given us an introduction. I am looking at the left hand switch and it tell me (or others working there) to press it up for OFF and down for ON. Just to confuse people the right hand switch says the exact opposite; press up for ON and down for OFF! No wonder there is so much confusion!!
@marshwader exactly. But what you don't know is that the outside area and light, is to the right of the switch and so these too are the wrong way around!
@helenhall this is such a fun photo Helen, it's amazing all those instructions needed since it's not installed logically! :) :)
