Searching for new life in the undergrowth and the bushes today, failed - on the face of it - to deliver any interesting subjects to practice macro photography. I was rather hoping for some insect life to reveal itself.
Instead, my attention was drawn to the dead and decaying. There was a hidden surprise in one of my brown leaf shots which, once on screen, revealed a small head peeking over a curled rim. Alas, the persistent breeze and lack of a tripod delivered an unwelcome loss of focus in the image and so after much deliberation, I have chosen not to post that one.
So instead, you see a different leaf that I was drawn to. In surrender to decay, it is now subject to nature's most practiced of recycling methods and starts the process most delightfully with a mottled effect which must surely be the inspiration to army camouflage.
PS - the corners get a bit lost on white, so view on black if you like
