The greatest challenge of all, for me, is street photography. Since one of the categories for my day in Shefford was street life, I had to confront it.
At one stage I plucked up courage to ask two of the cafe workers who were taking a smoke break outside if I could take their picture. They said it was fine as long as it didnt look as if they weren't working when they should be. No problem, I said, I shall call the picture ' taking a well earned break'. Well as they had been there a while and showed no urgency, I took my time setting the camera up and then just as I went to take the picture they had decided to get back to work and promptly moved indoors before I even clicked once!
A little while later, still sitting outside at The Loft Cafe, I found I could put my camera on the table and connect to it with my phone and so take pictures whilst looking as if I was on the phone.
A constant need to move the camera to try and frame my photo was not so subtle, but these three were engaged enough in the antics of the dog, not to notice me.
