We paid rather a lot of money for three of us to clamber up the narrow spiral staircase to the top of the Belfort Tower in Bruges, take a peek through the wire netting towards the top to see a restricted view looking down on the city, and then clamber down whilst the next set of people were already climbing up.
This particular view came to those brave enough to stand next to the big bell as it chimed midday.
