Will is trying to save up money to buy a swanky new laptop he's seen. It could take a very long time but it means he's keen to volunteer for extra jobs - as long as there is cash to be earned. This has led to some interesting 'full and frank exchanges of opinion' about which jobs are just part of what you do to pull your weight in a family and which are for financial reward. Mowing the lawn is a borderline case in my view - but he did do it so willingly that some money exchanged hands!
