023 - The Millennium Bridge is one of the most useful Millennium projects in this area - a new bridge across the River Ouse south of the centre of York, for use by walkers and cyclists, linking South Bank and Rowntree Park with Fulford and the University, and forming part of an orbital cycle route around the city. It also forms part of a pleasant short walk along the riverbank from the city centre, over the bridge and returning along the other bank of the river. It's very well used by both walkers and cyclists. Until recently it was York's newest river crossing, but a new bridge was recently opened over the River Foss in the Hungate area, relegating this to second newest.
I seem to have developed a blue sky theme over the last three days - will the weather give us more blue skies tomorrow?
Thank you Deb - it's a lovely shaped bridge. Parts of it are illuminated at night, so I need to get down there for a night shot sometime soon.
Thank you Lisa
Thank you Marie, it's a lovely structure to capture
Thank you - its not only attractive but a very useful link that I often use
Thank you Louise - but I can't claim credit for the blue sky, it's just one of those weeks! It really felt like summer walking by the river yesterday
Thank you - as you follow the riverside path under the bridge, this shot just calls to be taken!
Thank you Carole
Yours is a very interesting bridge - It's amazing how many different designs there are for what is effectively a very simple function
Thank you Myrna - the design is supposed to reflect a bicycle wheel leaning.
Thank you Leslie, it is an interesting design
Thank you Hanson - it's quite an interesting structure, and this is my favourite angle on it
