249 - By mid afternoon the sun is quite low in the sky, and walking through the Museum Gardens a couple of days ago I spotted an arch of trees with sunlight and long shadows, and a nice tranquil look about it, so here it is!
This kind of shot is difficult in these gardens for much of the year, because it is so well used and there are so many people walking around or sunbathing.
The ten-acre botanical Museum Gardens, around the Yorkshire Museum, stretch from the River Ouse up to the back of York Art Galley, and from Marygate on one side to Museum Street on the other, and date back to the 1830s.
A wide variety of plants and trees are grown here, with a range of native species as well as a large number of imported species. The gardens are currently being updated and renovated, and new areas, such as a fernery, are being developed.
Thank you all for your kind and generous comments. These gardens are really lovely in the quieter months of the year - far too busy in summer!
Thank you Kristin, it was a lovely peaceful colourful spot on the day I was there!
Thank you Petaqui, it is a lovely garden, but very busy when the weather is hot.
Thank you Sandy, it was a lovely peaceful garden when I was there, but it gets very busy in summer.
