About 5 years ago we visited Mexico City (to renew our passports at that time we lived in Mexico) and my husband who is normally not a shopper had the bargain of his life....
He spotted these Mariachis and after a lot of thinking he decided to ask the price. They were very cheap and they were bought straight away. The lady in the shop wrapped them in a lot of plastic and newspaper and my husband cared for his big bargain - wrapping it in some t-shirts for a safe trip home.
At home I discovered why they were so cheap - it is just hollow plastic.... Anyway, I really like them too and when I dust them I always have to think about my husbands bargain and laugh!
