This variety of peony truly deserves its name. It is one of the most beautiful varieties and we are very lucky because it seems to like our garden and we have several of these plants, all of which have self-seeded.
A quiet house at the moment, just Sam and I. Graham has gone up to Leeds with Angus for a couple of days as he is looking at universities there and in Sheffield. Tomorrow they are going to the test match at Headingly and I just got an excited text from them saying that the Sri Lankan team are staying in the same hotel as them and were eating the same restaurant earlier this evening.
I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself if I am honest because I had been planning to go to the open days with Angus, but my neck problem means that I couldn't. So Graham took a couple of days off and stepped into the breach.
Very nice Jan. I'm pretty sure one of my peonies is the same variety, its still a tight bud, hope it looks as nice as yours when it does make an appearance.
It is like a bowl of beauty as you say - a cup of colour and interest. One's neck is very important to look after - after all, it holds your head up and you can't do without your head!
Fab shot and love the light - fav! Ray bought a peony like this last year: the buds stayed buds for yonks until we went on holiday and they came out while we were away and one had already gone over on our return!!
