Sleeping House in the Woods by jgpittenger

Sleeping House in the Woods

Years ago when I was a Nurse Midwife and had five kids at home, I struggled to sleep in the daytime when I had been up all night and kids were home making noise. My dear husband built me a cabin in the woods so I could find a place of quiet. It still stands, a reminder of time passing. This is another HDR attempt. I had quite the experience this morning photographing this. As I came back down the trail to the house, there was a big cat- looked to be a cougar- over the edge by the stream munching on a carcass. It had just started to rain so my camera was under my jacket and I couldn't get it out enough to get a shot- the cougar that "got away!"
Two fascinating stories! I like the HDR - you got the colour well. You might want to pay for the basic version though - its only about $35 and it means you don't get those watermarks on your pics.

I remember when that was built! Gosh, that was SO long ago! How can that be?!
I like the greens of the moss; it cheers up the grey day a little!

Wow Jane ... and your man still lets you go out alone? You should be packing on those walks girl. Must have been a mixture of excitement, frustration and fear. Love the photo of the sleeping house ... neat memory ... thanks for sharing.

What a great idea to have a place to escape to like this! It looks so small though... like there's no room to lay down. How did you sleep in there?

@aspada It actually is big enough for a twin size waterbed- that's what I used

@mamabec yup...that was what the moment was!
