House In the Woods

We had a brief lull in the weather yesterday and I went out with my camera. Looks as if the next week or more will be rain, rain, and more rain. we need it so I shouldn't complain.
For those who have followed me for a while, I posted a shot of this last year but decided to play around a bit with editing. When I was a Nurse midwife with five small kids at home, my husband built this little space for me to sleep during the day. It has had many other uses over the years but right now more is a memory holder.
Thanks so much for your visits, comments, suggestions, favs. I really appreciate you
How adorable!!!

Fave, I love the textures and moss! But even more I love the story! I didn't realize you were a nurse-midwife.

This is really lovely. I can just imagine the peace you has sleeping out there. Lovely picture too with real atmosphere.

@nanalisarocks Not for many years. I couldn't cope with the lack of sleep and was the only midwife in the practice for too many years even though I did home, clinic, and hospital births. And I felt as if I wasn't going to get a chance to know my children before they grew up. I still miss the sacred mystery that I got to participate in. I was more recently, until I retired in December, a mental health Nurse Practitioner. Thanks for the fav

@jgpittenger Even better, mom to your own five. And MHNP, you have my admiration.

Beautiful - love that moss on the roof!

What a magical, dreamy little getaway. I can't imagine having five children, much less having an 'on call' job 24-7. And what a sweet husband to build this for you. I LOVE the moss on the roof!

I was thinking the same thing Cathy did...magical and dreamy. I love the moss on the roof.

What a wonderful place. Looks so restful, just what you needed. How great that you managed that demanding work and a family too.

This is so neat! I too love the story behind it. Who wouldn't want a getaway like that?
