Extatosoma Tiaratum Stretch

The afternoon of my macro class was spent photographing insects. I wish I had had my camera lined up more perfectly on the same plane as this magnificent creature, but I really like the reflections so I will post this one. I also have some shots of her hanging upside down. It was a really fun and exciting afternoon.
"Extatosoma tiaratum (common names Giant Prickly Stick Insect, Spiny Leaf insect,[1] Macleay's Spectre,[2] or Australian Walking Stick) is a large species of stick insect endemic to Australia"
Thanks so much for your response to my Mt Shasta shot yesterday that took it to the trending page. Thanks also for your visits, comments, suggestions, favs

Excellent shot Jane, I like the background and surface it's been shot on. I was looking at some of these yesterday at the zoo but couldn't get any great shots. Looks like your workshop was good.

Well done -- and curious -- is this a live insect? It looks like the shell of an insect.
