Torn Feathers Already on Juvenile Bald Eagle

When I was out photographing at Siltcoos Lagoon yesterday, I heard an uproar and went back in the direction of the sound. There was a disturbance between another blue heron and this juvenile bald eagle. I managed to get two flying shots in focus and chose this one because I liked being able to see the tears on his wings and the turn of his head looking back to see if he was being followed...or at least that is the story I tell myself. Best on black if you have time and inclination
Thanks for the visits, comments, suggestions, favs
That fierce face goes so well with the wing span and the background. I can see this in a book. It's a FAV

Even as a juvenile, they're so powerful looking. What a terrific shot of him flying - must have been quite the sight. Love the details on those feathers. Fav

Super shot, looks as though he has been in a few scrapes already. He doesn't look happy making a speedy retreat.

The story would make a great kids' book, only it may be too violent! Wonderfully dramatic shot and terrific focus "on the fly."

Wonderful stop action shot. To me this is photography at its best, capturing that one perfect moment.
