Like most of us, I have been deeply concerned about global warming. I began gestating this composite when I was in Hawaii out of a desire to somehow use my photography for making a statement, bringing awareness. I am not sure this says it as strongly and poignantly as I would like and I would be very happy for suggestions. I think it probably needs to be viewed on black to see the detail that is essential for the statement.
Thanks so much for taking your precious time to look at, comment on, make suggestions, fav, my photos. It means a lot
It MUST be viewed on black at least on my computer. Jane, this is powerful. What is fascinating is to look at it initially as a beautiful image of the volcano. Then, as the birds begin to emerge, the more dystopian elements come through -- the heat, the birds who must survive and of course the implications far beyond wildlife. I think it is a work of art. In terms of suggestions, even large, the birds toward the bottom darker area only emerge on close inspection. That may be what you intended as it's an image that asks to be studied. I'm not sure if lightening those areas would lessen the overall impact of the image or help the birds be seen more easily (the ones along the lava at the base). Instant fav for three things: the resulting composition, the message, and the effort it took to create. And I recognize several of the birds as ones you've photographed, so assume the composite is made from images you've taken?
Oh my new job is with a company who takes in the recycle trash and then burns the other trash so it takes up less space and burns it cleanly. It makes me feel like I am part of something good.
I'm only viewing in my small phone screen at the moment, but I like what I'm seeing very much. I'm definitely going to revisit on my big screen when I get home to fully appreciate your work
You stopped me in my tracks with this image Jane. It is such a powerful statement about the folly being pursued by the governments of most of the developed world and some others too. Our politicians are way out of step with the majority of the population, but still keep on doing effectively zip to tackle emissions. I agree with @taffy that this is a work of art, and IMHO should be shown publicly. I too would like to see a little more prominence given to some of the critters though, if this were to be viewed in a large format that observation may not be pertinent. The image is, at once, chilling and amazing use of natural elements to make your case in a very strong manner. I'm only sorry I'm restricted to a single fav. More power to your arm, as my Scottish mate would say.
