Thanks, Debbie for the suggestion. I went back and redid the masking and put my egret on a different background and gave him more space.

Did you use a background that you photographed yourself or is this a stock image? I was looking at stock images for backgrounds because sometimes my background is not so good, but the subject is good. Just curious. Your photos are always amazing.
This changes the whole feeling of the bird in flight. I like this one for the simplicity of the background as the egret really stands out. Fabulous result. I wouldn't have thought to change the background so very useful suggestion from Debbie.
I went back and had a look at your other background. I have to agree the simplicity of this one really makes the bird stand out beautifully. I love the way the darker band of the background shows off his head.
