I like this view of the "phantom ship" with Mt Thielsen in the background giving a sense of the vastness.
Thanks so much for your visits, comments, suggestions, favs
@jgpittenger So is this Oregon? If it is, for sure! Once this move is sorted out, I'll have a better sense of when and how to get away, and Portland as a place to start always works well because of family. What times of year make the most sense?
@taffy oregon, yes. It has snow until July and starting again mid September and lots of tourists in between so it's a bit of a crap shoot. I'm out of practice driving in snow. You? Jim and I have reservations for next sept 9-11... might be we could work it on one end of that, but I'd be up for whenever
Planning for next September is possible. I'm putting it in my calendar...and no, I'm terrible driving in snow! I'm so used to taking trains and buses now that unless it's dirt roads like Beaver Island, I'm useless.
@taffy Sure...probably full of tourists but fun nonetheless. If you really can do it, we should probably reserve a place to stay as soon as possible. The lodge is historic and pretty neat but expensive. There are also cabins in Mazama area of the park or we could get cabin at Union Creek which would probably be cheaper but is 15-20 miles from the park
@jgpittenger -- thank you for being so welcoming -- Taffy and I have already met "Rosie" in St Louis (separately) and of course you know that Taffy and I have been living together this past year and are photo buddies around the world. We've always wanted to meet you so now we can begin looking forward to a concrete plan!
