One of the things I miss from when I lived in the Eastern US is lightening so I was excited when there was thunder and lightening in the Grand Canyon. I don't have one of the devices that picks up lightening and activates the shutter but figured maybe I could catch a strike if I just kept shutter down with continuous shooting. They were totally unpredictable and I didn't think I had caught a strike until I got the photos on my computer. I got one! Deleted 50 shots that didn't have a strike but at least I got one. I was thrilled. It is tiny in the frame but you can see it if you view on black.

Awesome capture. Know exactly what you mean about getting a bolt. Fortunately, it works a little better after sunset when you can use a longer exposure, and still I have to delete most of them as it just didn't happen.
That is one spectacular shot Jane, the lighting on that amazing landscape is amazing. Great work to get a lightening strike without one of those gizmos.
I am so enjoying the contrast of the darkness with the light and that lightning strike is fabulous. I have never yet managed to capture one.......on my list!
