They finally arrived. I love their fancy colors and beautiful song from the top of the highest tree. This was shot through a window since he is still pretty nervous about me. I thought the pose here was cute.

What a haven your home is for wildlife. This is yet another beautiful bird visiting you. I was very interested to see the structure of your nesting box - such a good idea to screen away the bigger birds.
@robz it unfortunately doesn’t keep out the pesky tricky stellar jays and the doves find a way as well! It does keep raccoons and inhibits rats! On the other hand it is hanging from a 10’ metal upside down U frame with the addition of electric wire fence to keep the bears away. We do live in a wilderness paradise though. The only thing I don’t like is our horrid internet
Wow Jane - you have obviously been fine tuning things for a long time. I think we could use your screening idea to protect some of our nesting sites (for smaller mammals) from the kookaburras. Thanks for all the info - it's fascinating to hear about the different challenges in your part of the world. :)
