Milky Way Over Old Murphy's Mill

Best on black. I found this spot as a potential spot to shoot the Milky Way a couple of months ago. Since then either the sky has been filled with cloud cover or the moon has been too bright. Finally last night the sky was dark and clear. It was however really cold and windy so hard to get the perfect shot. I had wanted to take a bunch of images and star stack but I was shivering as was Jim who kindly came to help me feel safe in a little iffy a spot.
Thanks for your visits, comments, suggestions, favs
Fabulous!

Right away my eyes went to the beautiful light to the right of the shot and then I looked to the stars. And the beautiful light just behind the trees .

So very well done, Jane. The structures in the foreground add depth and sense of scale. Easy fav.

Wow - that's amazing!

Exceptional, the luminous glow on the wood is magic. I total understand the shivering. I'm going to look for hand warmer gloves and add them to my (winter) kit

What a useful find - having those shapes in the foreground really adds another dimension to your wonderful night sky shots. :)

Amazing shot! Is it a single exposure or a blend of images?

Glad everything finally aligned. And it looks like an outstanding place to get the ideal shot. Hopefully when it warms up, you can do a little more with it the way you want.

A stunning capture with that wonderful foreground.

Beautiful! Fabulous on black! I keep wanting to attempt this but like you I'd rather not go out alone to a dark, isolated spot.

Simply superb and the POV you chose really makes the image.

Super shot, is it taken above a children's play area?
January 24th, 2022
@busylady no. It’s an old structure at a mill that was used to move the logs from the river onto the land and then to be milled

Oh Jane, this is just fabulous on black! Love the old structure with just enough color to really add to the shot.
