Inspired by @colosimo's fabulous shot of the milky way over some cabins, I decided to try some star shots from my deck since I'm still sick and that felt as if it was as far as I could venture. I kind of like the moon reflection on the ocean even though the stars would have been brighter later...when I was sound asleep!
whaaaaat?! That's the view from your deck? That's beautiful! I'm super jealous.
I actually really like what you did with this one. These shots are all a matter of taste, so what I'm saying here is just what I might have done slightly differently, but I'm not sure it would have actually made it better or just more my style. I'd have used the adjustment brush to paint a mask over everything except for in the near vicinity to the moon, and I'd have upped the clarity and possibly boosted the highlights and contrast a tad, just to give the stars a little more pop. I'd avoid that on the moon though since I really love how the moon is rendered in this shot. Maybe darken the blacks a bit too to hide some of the noise in the shadows of the trees (there's hardly any, but that can sometimes be an easy fix)
You managed to get some stunning detail in this picture, especially for the moon having not set yet. The Andromeda galaxy (top middle) came out looking incredible.
@colosimo Oh goodie. I'll try it. Thanks. And yes it is a fabulous view off our deck...actually better than this but lots of branches to clone out had I taken it from another view.
