White Egret Rookery by jgpittenger

White Egret Rookery

On my way home from Eugene a couple of days ago, I saw this white egret rookery and decided to go back between rain storms with my tripod and longest lens and see what I could get. They were way over on the other side of the river so the focus isn't great but I was happy to get what I got! You can see a more zoomed in view of an individual bird in my main album. I hadn't realized that when they are in breeding colors, the top of the beak is blue.
Thanks much for your visits, comments, suggestions, favs and for your empathy re my hard drive woes. It is very perplexing...at the computer hospital it worked fine and passed all the evaluations. It does make me nervous.
Wonderful, atmospheric shot. Instantly took me back to about a year ago when my wife and I visited Oregon for the 1st time. Thank you for bringing back a great memory with your terrific capture.

It looks very wild and tangled over there so difficult to get a sharp focus but you have done so well!

Beautiful Jane. I figured you were a mile away. Great capture anyways.

Great capture. Yeah, that would be hard to get the most sharpest focus, but you did very well on it, regardless.

This is amazing - something I'd never see if it weren't for your shot. Wonderful catching so much of it so clearly.
