Back Cove looking to the city. by joansmor

Back Cove looking to the city.

I took my car in early for service. What a morning! Became a big deal because of a couple of recalls and a simple light that almost cost me $800. I thought my BP would be through the roof when I went to the doctors. But actually had 1 1/2 for photography and my BP was good. So that's the trick. Lose weight, exercise more - yep figured that out myself and am working on it. Loved this shot taken at the Back Cove but the sky was too blue because I think of the polarizing filter I used to work with all the WHITE. So did this bw (with blue tones and loved it). Hope you like it. No snow two days in a row, YEAH!
Love the sky! I think that B&W is awesome here!

This is gorgeous in black and white - a fav for me!

The sky looks dark and angry but the single streetlight gives a nicer friendlier look....wonderful capture Joan.... :)

Tom
Very crisp and clean focus

Fabulous shot Joan! Glad your BP is good - I think the secret to keeping your BP down is photograohy :)

Nice capture! Looks good in black and white. I'm looking forward to the warmer weather- I was actually out walking more when I could go shoot pictures.

Your high contrast processing has given this a rather brutal look, which I imagine is the emotion you were trying to convey... the grimness and inhospitability of the winter weather. It certainly looks chilly!

Really really neat photograph Joan. I like the contrast of the busy dark city and suddenly, the white and peaceful quiet.
February 12th, 2015
The sky is dramatic and the snow looks good -- with more on the way.

Strange place it seems for the lamp post, lovely B/W!

Great photo, nice sky line.

@ribbet9 This is a parking lot for runners/walkers and others.

This looks so cold, with that much snow around. I don't think I could survive!
February 12th, 2015
@888rachel I actually do better (as much as I complain) with extreme cold than extreme heat. I grew up with this.

I do love this shot. Amazing view, and the processing is brilliant. I wish I could give it more than one fave.
February 12th, 2015
@karlow75 I'd take one fav
February 12th, 2015
You have done well there Joan

I like the tones! Beautiful.

What a dramatic sky, the snow shows it off.
February 12th, 2015
Love the processing - great cold tones

You were right, when it thaws, you are going to have a torrent of water. Beautiful capture!!!.
February 12th, 2015
Fantastic, love the comp and the sky is so pretty!
February 13th, 2015
@kt8ird Thank because as you work on flash, I am working on composition.
February 13th, 2015
@joansmor I absolutely love this. It reminds me of when I would go snowmobiling as a child and peek over at the city. Fantastic contrast.
February 13th, 2015
Gorgeous b&w Joan, love the contrast with the snow and the city!
Esp like the wispy clouds!

Do you find the polarizing filter helps with taking Winter snow pictures? How does it effect the light? They have been recommending a neutral density filter in the camera setting challenges.
February 14th, 2015
This is very nice, by the way. The lamp post adds nice foreground interest, and provides great scale. I'm really impressed with the clarity and sharpness captured from this distance!
February 14th, 2015
@gratefulness I don't have the neutral density filter yet, I had my polarizing lens on to cut the sun so in that condition it helped. Would like to get a nd lense.
February 14th, 2015
@joansmor TY, I don't have a filter yet, so I was just curious, which was why I was asking. Nice you have one.
February 14th, 2015
@gratefulness My two lenses are different sizes so I only have for my original lense.
February 14th, 2015
nicely done... there's something both powerful and moody about this
February 15th, 2015
I like blue color on this "black and white" photo.
