I need a sketch for my current scrap page so decided to post it here also. THe first Maple farm we attempted to visit had hundreds of cars parked on one side of the road. And people everywhere. We figured we would be in line for ages to get anything or see the animals. So we tried the other place which was smaller but they were giving away ice cream with maple syrup. Oh to die for. We brought maple cotton candy, maple taffy and maple syrup that was still hot from having been cooked down. I had it on my Eggos this morning. Oh yum.
This is making me think I should check out the maple syrup farm near me this Saturday. Between you and another 365er who is posting maple syrup pictures I am now craving pancakes! Looks like breakfast for dinner is on tap for tomorrow! I like the processing on this a lot- reminds me of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books I read as a young girl.
@joansmor We’re doing a 22 day tour from Vancouver that takes us through the Rockies and includes a cruise up the Inside Passage, before returning to Vancouver. From there we plan to fly to the east coast (probably Quebec City) and spend a couple of weeks making our way down to Toronto before heading back to Vancouver to fly home. The east coast will be a bit of flying by the seat of our pants stuff as we haven’t organised anything but I really should start doing a bit of research. We plan on doing a side trip Niagara and I’m hoping to see some Autumn colour but there are so many possibilities ....😊
Niagara is a must and if you are there for only a short time do one of the all day tours that takes you into everything. Old Quebec is fab. If you drive from Quebec/Toronto to Niagara go through the Thousand Island area. West coast I have never been. But I envy you. @frantackaberry lives in the Thousand Island area and her pictures are wonderful.
@joansmor Wonderful sketch! I never made it back to the sugar shack when it was actually open for the season.... something for next year. @merrelyn the 1000 Islands Area is halfway between Montreal and Toronto and is very beautiful at that time of year. Sounds like a wonderful itinerary and you will be hitting lots of great highlights while you are here. The sugar shacks are only operating usually in the month of March to early April. However, there are lots of places to buy local maple syrup and enjoy it on pancakes or ice cream!
@joansmor thanks Joan, I’ve been planning on researching the Thousand Island area. We’ve hit a bit of a bump in the road. Graham has just had a series of tests as it appears that he might have had a small heart attack. He seems ok and we’re hoping that it hasn’t done too much damage - waiting to see his cardiologist to find out.
