Desert Color

These flowers are Indian Paint Brush(Castilleja integra) and the grey/ green lichen (Dimelaena radiata) is found in and on all sorts of places in Flagstaff.
Great contrast of the red blooms against the lichen - lovely.

@maskerade Thank you. The idea of lichen in a dry environment still baffles me. I've always liked how it just grows almost any where here.

The lichen behind them definitely adds to the depth - this is fantastic! Fav!

@brett101 Wow, thank you for the fav. I just snapped with my cell this morning on my walk. The best thing about 365 is that I notice so much more than I used to. @jo38 Thank you, I am kinda new to this dry climate and to see lichen on things still surprises me.

Very nice contrasts in this picture, in terms of both colour and shapes.

@ziggy77 Thank you, I am always in awe of your work with flowers. We just don't have that many here in the high desert. @stephanies Thank you the paint brush flower is a wild one here so I see it often. The lichen is very common, I love the patterns that are made by it.
@frappa77 Thank you a great deal for the fav. I always bring my cell on my walks so I try to remember to use the camera on it now and then.

@octogenarian Thank you, I see this lichen everywhere so I'm glad that I remembered to look at it through the lens.
