I finally got an IR edit the way that I wanted. Photoshop and I have been battling so I flanked its raw forces. It seems that white balance in IR is key to the edit process. I was working in raw and got only frustration, so I started to work with my jpeg images and I achieved breakthrough. Yes, I am still on the learning curve but feel like I just may get it.
@maskerade I was amazed that the jpeg worked better but that is a limitation in photoshop. I have a training session with Life Pixel who converted my camera later this month. I am going to ask if they know a good program that works with raw's infra red white balance better.- I'll post what I find out.
@mcsiegle Thank you, I must admit to being really frustrated with IR but am making progress.
@taffy Thank you very kindly for the fav. The converted camera is so much better than filters because I can actually see and compose the image like usual.
@sdutoit Thank you so much, the conversion to IR was my present to myself. Now I just would like warmer temperatures to go outside and play.
@la_photographic I am very grateful for the fav, thank you. I feel in love with IR a while ago but now can get serious about the technique.
@susale You are very kind, thank you. The day at the canyon was amazingly warm 50f/10c. I am having fun with this now.
Interesting result, I love the subject and the composition, the colours are more subtle than the one you posted on the 1st and maybe just a little too light for my tastes, but glad you are winning the war with PS and finding your own style with it.
@stephanies Thank you, the 1st post was using a raw file and then shopped. I might try to use that route again but with a few tweaks. Edits can be a barrel full of monkeys at times.
@vignouse I found that I've got to walk away from photoshop often when I'm editing IR's. Also finding out that photoshop doesn't adjust white balance too terrifically was kinda helpful now all I have to do is find a software that I can use and that I understand.:):)
@pickerandagrinner I am learning to just step into the wild side with this IR work. By using the jpegs to start the edits seems to be helping but will be asking LifePixel (company who did my camera conversion) about other software that might be better than photoshop.
@domenicododaro Thank you very much for the fav. I have fallen in love with IR, right up my weird alley.
@mrforja Thank you very kindly for the fav, having the camera converted made all the difference and of course the alternate university of YouTube.
@catsmeowb Thank you so much, IR is infra-red. I have been bitten by this 'bug' since my film days. A cool book which explains it is ( https://www.amazon.com/Infrared-Photography-Artistic-Techniques-Brilliant-ebook/dp/B019M8MZ3U/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1483453258&sr=1-1&keywords=Laurie+Klein).
