Frost before the Snow by joysabin

Frost before the Snow

Taken last week when we had sun. Today it is a whiteout, no streets, no sidewalks, nothing but mounds of white. About 30 inches so far.
It kind of looks like coral formation

@deborah63 I see that, I think that this was hoar frost since it was all over the plants that morning. I only have my cell phone with me but it did okay.
@overalvandaan Thank you, the sun was making all the ice crystals just glisten.
@jo38 Thank you, the sun has been shy this month. We have oodles of snow now, I think 34 inches since Thursday but you just plow through and use the snow blower.

Very cool processing to create an abstract from the frost.

@taffy Thank you so much, this is cell phone shot. Its not an Iphone but the camera does a good 4x shot.

Looks like beautiful crystals. That much be surreal to have a whiteout?

So beautiful. I agree with Debbie, it does look like coral. 30 inches of snow is a lot!!

@365projectorgjenfurj Thank you very much. It has its advantages, I tried night shots last night and the snow added with the light but didn't go far because the streets are plowed and I don't own a snow cat.
@megpicatilly Thank you a great deal. I the snow is ending and we should be plowed out today.

@ziggy77 Thank you, playing on the computer instead of braving the snow is so much more fun.

What a great effect, beautiful crystals

At first I thought it was an explosion or fireworks. Interesting how the ice crystals grow out like that.

I love what happens during snowfalls and a freeze, but here in Roseburg we get so little. I wasn't able to get out to photograph during the short freezes and snowfall we had here. I love this picture.

The processing really brings out and enhances the frosty image. Nice one!

@susale Thank you very much, winter has shown up and I am still trapped inside so I played with an recent shot.
@gardencat Ice around here is strange. We do get cool icicles but frost, not so much.
@stefneyhart I miss Oregon. Used to live in Corvallis before OSU grew into a big school. Southern Oregon is still a wonderful place. I truly appreciate the fav.
@mcsiegle Thank you, frost is really very fun to try to capture.

Interesting, pretty colours. Oh my gosh... 30 inches of snow... that's a lot of snow... sure hope you don't get anymore of it!
