Rt 66

Practicing some light trails and night shots. I need much more practice but you've got to start somewhere.
If you have the time, please try viewing on black.

Sighing in admiration...yet relieved that it's not available on my watch.

Great image. I need practice with this also, but Argaka is not exactly the hotbed of activity once the sun goes down.

Really well done Anne. I haven't tried this but it is on my 'to do' list!

I love how it looks like a beam of light speeding arpund the bend! Very cool!

Cool, love the bend

Well done for exploring this technique. It does look great on black.

Like that shot. Love the blurred lights. Where did the car with the white headlights go? Did it just disappear? You're not that far from Area 51 there? Mmmn. Suspicious.

@kiwinanna I am very grateful for the fav, thank you.

@365projectorgjenfurj You are very kind, thank you. I have been trying to take notes so that I can 'remember' what I did and why.

@30pics4jackiesdiamond I am very grateful, thank you kindly. The nights are warming up so I thought that I would try to get out. I went to youtube and searched night shots, light trails, and then just rabbit holed - that is getting lost in youtube land. Get out there and try, low ISO, med fstop, a cable release and a tripod. A small not too bright flash light helps. I taped some red paper over one so that I could still see.

@pusspup It is fun, I was told to not go alone so I bribed by son with some ice cream.

@s4sayer Thank you so much. This town likes to call itself a 'dark skies city' which I think refers to low lights at night. It is okay for this style but for the purest star photographers, they need to go several miles outside of town. I'm not that adventurous nor dedicated.

@jerome Thank you very kindly for the fav. Lots more work to do.

@evalieutionspics You should give it a try, lack of light can really give some nice star shots. I have been trying those and have been stymied thus far, too much light at night around here.

@megpicatilly Give it a try, its fun. My husband makes me take someone with when I go out around town at night.

@cjphoto Thank you, that was a total lucky break. I was using a cable release and the cars were doing their own thing- no real pattern. That the stopping of the light is when I closed the shutter.

@overalvandaan Thank you, there aren't too many high spots in town and this slope up Route 66 is very close to home so it fit the bill.

@stephanies Thank you very much. I am taking a class this weekend on night photography so I wanted to have some practical experience so I wouldn't feel totally out of place.

@mbrutus Thank you a great deal, Area 51 is recruiting or is it that the Martians are just in town? We do have Mars Hill and all. :):) Really it was just when I closed the shutter with my remote.
