My 1st SOOC with a 50mm equivalent (my 35mm). I want to make myself shoot b&w as well this month. No raw, just jpeg so, I won't be tempted to edit. I see that I really have to take time to get my exposures down better, I was exposing for the little backlit tree but didn't think about the highlights in the upper left. I am going to break out my old spot meter for the month.
@joysabin Hi Joy, no Raw is off limits - you upload the Jpeg exactly as you downloaded it from the memory card. If you want to do B&W (good decision!) you can do so by changing your camera's mode from colour to B&W. I find this a bit of a fag so I carry two cameras, one set to B&W and the other set to colour.
It's an interesting shot as it is - it makes your eye bounce back and forth from the backlit sapling to the bright background. And the dark trunk acts as a pretty good leading line. It's not static and I like it. :)
@vignouse My X-T2 has two card slots, I have one for RAW, t'other for JPEGs which is currently set to three different film simulations including one B&W. Sorry I missed the start of this challenge, will try to catch up.
You are off to a good start... and you didn't make it easy for yourself with this ambitious shot. A decent attempt and something to learn as a bonus. Well done!
@ninaganci Thank you a great deal, I am trying to 'see' in contrasts, like the good old film days.
@haskar I got lucky when I saw it going out on the trail. When we came back, the sun had moved behind some clouds. Lucky my husband understands me and lets me take my shots and catch up as needed when we are hiking.
@robz Such a kind comment, thank you kindly, I also truly appreciate the fav.
@lostphojo Learning by falling flat is my usual but re-learning how to see in contrast is good for me.

@olivetreeann Very grateful, thank you. Its the bending down on the rock that got me - I should wear knee pads :):)
@kali66 Thank you so much. I am trying to think in contrasts for this month.
@eudora Thank you a great deal. I might be limiting myself by no raw but are we allowed to convert to B&W and still stay within the rules?
@amyk Thank you so much.
@la_photographic Thank you so much.
