I follow Country Living UK on Instagram and they had a post suggesting that natural wreaths could be hung up in the garden and would be used by birds for nest material. I made this year’s wreath at a Zoom workshop in December and it’s past its best but I thought the birds might take the moss at least. I was a bit surprised, while reading governing body policies, to see a squirrel’s head appear through the middle of it though. Too slow with the camera for that sadly but he did go back for another of the eucalyptus seed heads having been disappointed with the pine cones.
My photos are looking a bit washed out and fearing camera fault I took a few test photos - turns out that outside (in the shade) is just a bit washed out especially through a window...
Weather: Bright and beautiful and cold.
Covid: Key cutting man (no mask, no distancing from colleague) tells me he’s not having the vaccine and neither is his 92 year old mother-in-law because ‘it’s risky’ and anyway he already “almost lost both legs after getting sepsis from a ‘normal cold’” - I did try to explain relative risk...
Highlight: we can open the front door again.
I adore your natural wreath, and apparently others do as well! I think I'll go that route next year. Well done, Judith.
Your conversation with the key cutter is head shaking.
Naughty little squirrel! They are persky little so and so’s but good for a photo opportunity.
Loving your weather, Covid and daily highlights. Nice you are seeing the best in things despite the gloom and doom!!
Silly fool...the key cutter I mean & he’s got his elderly mother thinking the same!
The squirrel will think he’s eating at a five star establishment! Good to recycle your lovely wreath!
@happypat honestly there’s a great big glaring risk from Covid and they’re busy going ‘the vaccine is a risk...’ - I’ll get mine sooner but without a good tranche of the population we’ll be stuck with it. The keys he cut didn’t work either!
This is a great idea, and how cool to have a squirrel come over to help himself. I like your list of 'things' and am a bit worried about your key man's attitude. I hope there are not too many people out there thinking like that. I think for the greater good we all need to just do it.

Do you still have your fairy lights out (is it PC to say fairy lights) or are they a permanent feature ?
