The River Cam has broken its banks in various places north & south of the city and it’s very high through the colleges. The sluice gates are both going full pelt and there’s a lot of churn. There’s a lot of punting activity round here (Darwin College) when we don’t have a pandemic underway but they would have been off the river today. There were swimmers upstream though - I’d have been rapidly pinned to the sluice gates if I’d ventured in.... They had people with them but I couldn’t help think it would be a bad idea to be needing the hospital at the moment.
Weather: blue skies
Covid: my dad has a vaccination appointment - hurrah!
Good things: out in time to find some space before the whole city took advantage of the break in the rain.
Hahaha you have caught a man doing a bit of yoga!
The river clearly is out of control and looking quite dangerous. I do hope nobody tries anything Too risky just now, Addenbrookes is pretty well up to capacity!
I’m always saying that... mind how you walk, no broken bones or emergency A&E visits. That sounds particularly unpleasant to get stuck by the sluice gates!
I see him, he has no idea that his exercise routine is going round the world!
Swimming in that at the moment sounds a bit irresponsible. That is what I think a lot of people don't get... we have a lot of horsey people round here and they are still out riding, more than ever actually, and often leading another horse as they go. Such a dangerous activity (spoken as one who has had two breaks from riding as a child) which risk putting the NHS under even more strain...... rant over. I was wondering what the man was doing on his balcony.
Looks like a basement likely to be full of water. We don’t have the crazy swimmers here much but the off road vehicle sand dune riders are a big risk for more filling of the ICUs
Fabulous shot of the swollen River Cam. I'm loving that wonderful house. It looks like the fellow on the balcony might soon be bailing water out of the lowest level...
So glad your dad is on the vaccination list!
@kjarn@jantan@happypat@lucycameron I got a v good close up of him doing his vigorous stretches. Nigel says he was showing off about having the best room!
Spectacular. I like the people on the veranda / balcony . Actually is it veranda or verandah or just a balcony because the former must be at ground level
