Actually not just a blood orange- it’s from Waitrose so it’s got a fancy name but I’ve bought another 5 unnamed blood oranges from the local greengrocer. I’ve learned from last year when the shortness of the season caught me out. I’m slightly obsessing at this point because really I want chocolate....
I’m waiting for the vet to get back blood test results for Rafiki - she’s been very vocal recently, waking us up several times a night ‘yowing’. It’s sort of coincided with Monty dying so we thought maybe she would always have done it but didn’t want to attract Monty’s attention but other people with elderly cats have said it can be a health thing. Anyway - the excellent new vet at our practice is right on this sort of thing and thinks it may be due to arthritis in her back legs which really makes sense because she’s started getting onto chairs etc by heaving herself up with her front legs. So long as her kidneys are ok she can have painkillers which will hopefully be a game changer bless her.
Weather: wet
Covid: I’ve dispatched more home made masks to London on request.
Good thing: the post office lady shuffled the bar of chocolate I’d added (Malteasers - so hard to not buy one for me) so that it would go through the ‘large letter’ slot. Always gratifying when a package gets through.
Blood oranges are rarely available where I live, so had never seen one growing up. Imagine my surprise when I bit into one when I lived in France during college! I thought I needed a dentist!
@bkp that’s funny because I really associate them with childhood. I don’t eat oranges much except these which are currently really sweet and lovely. I can imagine your shock if you weren’t expecting it!
Squeezing through that slot....good job I haven’t to get through there at the moment. We have a large family sized box of Maltesers in the outside chest freezer. I’m slowly emptying it because we are chucking it out bit so fat the Maltesers are still there.
Poor Rafiki....so worrying when our elderly pets start to fade.
Fab focus on these luscious orange slices.
Hoping all will be good with Rafiki once she’s cleared for pain meds. She deserves comfort in her second half years. Bless her.
Wow juicylicious! Shiny and plump little slices. Beautifully photographed!
Our senior 14 year old cat worries me as she does the same by heaving herself onto the sofa but has just come in with a mouse so must be spritley enough. Maybe Rafiki is just coming into her own now Monty is not around to keep her in check.
@lucycameron quite a lot of muscle wastage round her back half - once the vet said it it’s obvious. We know she can barely get over the gate but occasionally forget she’s out the front - mustn’t forget! Vet says owners see complete changes in behaviour when the painkillers are given so 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
nobody does food goodies like waitrose. , nicely shot judith . Our local Waitrose is in Newark on Trent, 20 miles away, so we haven't been this year due to lockdown !
