No time for photography today so another from my wandering around Ascension Burial Ground yesterday. I noticed that Mary Tankard was born in the year that her neighbour here died but lived for 101 years. Both gravestones are rather fine examples I think. I’m not sure who carved Mary’s- I don’t think it’s a Kindersley Workshop although there are some beautiful examples of his work here. It could be by Eric Marland who works in the chapel now and was a student of Kindersley but it doesn’t look quite dramatic enough!

Weather: ordinary
Covid: still here
Good thing: Adam is bringing his very sore mouth to Lucy C’s husband’s clinic tomorrow so we’ll get to clap eyes on him briefly before he goes back to London. He and we are relieved that he’ll be getting an expert opinion on his wisdom teeth.
Nicely captured - Mary had an impressive number of years here on earth.

Love the contrast between the stones. Great capture

I have a friend who does this for a living. It must be a dying skill.

Nice contrast. Graveyards are such interesting places. We found some marked war graves recently but didn't realise they were there.

I'm not big on grave yard shots - but interesting textures here

Great observations and lovely to thinking Mary having 103 years!
Thank you for your mention again, Malcolm loves a good wisdom tooth so hope Adam doesn’t let him down lol.

@lucycameron I’m rather hoping his funny salivary gland lymph nodes are still up because they’re ‘interesting’! He’s staying with his friend and her mum because they’re both vaccinated- we’re only getting a drop by after Malcolm!

Mary Josephine looks to be one of the newer arrivals by the pristine looks of her marker. But then it took her 101 years to make the move. Love the look of this graveyard.
All the best to Adam with his dental issue. Not fun.

I love wandering around old cemeteries. When the kids were young, we lived right across a country road from one. Great climbing toys too!

Very interesting observation... Mary's headstone seems a bit out of place with the other ones though. I'm sure time will take care of that. Best of luck to Adam with his wisdom teeth.

I like the contrast between Mary's stone and the rest. I hope Adam gets the problem sorted

What a fascinating juxtaposition of dates and styles. I do love walking around old cemeteries, like @jgpittenger It's an interesting insight into history.

Interesting contrast in styles through the years!

This is a super image, and such a coincidence that one person died in the same year that the other was born. So nice to look at and compare the two headstones too, with their very different styles and ages.

Cemeteries make for lovely and interesting walks...there is always something to see.
