We enjoyed a wander round Madingley Hall grounds again this morning and obeyed the one way system this time. The gardeners told us a while ago it’s there because they were forced to put one in place but as there’s loads of space and it’s outdoors it doesn’t matter which way you go. Having played fast and loose with the system last week and been subjected to a few ‘looks’ we followed the arrows today.
Weather: boring
Covid: vaccination has reached my age group - I had one through the food bank a month ago but it’s very exciting seeing all my friends (& Nigel) book in. 69 days till we are allowed inside with family is feeling like a very long time especially as my dad has had a couple of falls this week. Very sore elbow is the only damage luckily but it would be good to visit.
Good thing: Daffodil season is definitely upon us.
@maggiemae on top of 60 odd days already. It’s a long haul - I’m wondering if the government will keep a lid on it - with the vaccination roll out going so well people will want to see family.
That moss is fabulous. I never would have noticed the ladybugs with out seeing @lucycameron's comment. Nature abounds on the armless lady.
I know you will be relieved when you are finally able to see your Dad. Bless him. Are there hard and fast government restrictions regarding small group visits even if all involved have been vaccinated and safety measures are taken?
Many states here are abandoning all restrictions - businesses and schools completely open with no mandated safety protocol. I can't help but think that's a disaster in the making. I hope I'm wrong.
@peggysirk it’s the same rules with or without vaccination - you can only leave home for exercise, essential food shopping, medical appointments, work that you can’t do from home or to care for someone in your bubble. I agree with the blanket rules - it helps with an organised roll out and the relaxation of rules should be based on case numbers as vaccination works on an individual and community basis and you need both components. The schools start back tomorrow and so long as case numbers don’t rise I will be able to visit dad on 29th March but only outdoors. It’s a 2 hour drive on a good run so if I’m doing it properly I’ll have to stop at public conveniences in the village and sit on his patio then drive home again. We will not be allowed to mix with another household indoors until 17th May at the earliest. Realistically it’s impossible for me to visit without at least being able to nip into the loo! It’s coming up to the May deadline that I think things may fall apart - I’ll be able to go in a pub or restaurant or gym with Nigel on 12th April - with other single households in the same place - but not into my dad’s apartment with both of us vaccinated and knowing our risk of exposure. If cases stay low and more and more people are vaccinated and Easter has effectively been cancelled as well as Christmas patience will be wearing thin I think!
