Swanning around

I had a lovely evening walk with my friend Sarah. She was 24 hours post vaccination so not 100% on form so we sat for a little while by the river and watched the world go by. And the world really was on the move with lots of folk taking advantage of the lighter evenings to get some fresh air and exercise. I suppose in non-lockdown world people are heading out for a beer on a Friday evening and kids are doing football/swimming/karate/tennis etc but everybody was looking very contented with a stroll or a cycle ride.

Weather: chilly but fine
Covid: Bad news of surges in Europe and new lockdowns (seems odd as we’ve been in ours for 11 weeks already I sort of assumed Europe was the same but then we got ‘Kent’).
Good thing: Inspired by @fueast I jet cleaned the patio. It’s a terrible job but then I remind myself of the quote I once got for somebody else to do it and I crack on. I’m pretty sure we could have had new flags laid for the price. Black spot removing acid stuff on order - at least that’s not an annual job.
Lovely evening light back there. Can you send me that quote? It might make me feel better about my aching back.

Those swans are glowing in the evening light! Warmer here this morning but a nasty sneaky wind this afternoon.

@judithg Blimey! Although I'm not sure in what century you'd have got a whole patio layed for that...

What a splendid location to watch the world go by. Wonderful shot! And good for you for taking on that patio project. I'm getting ready to trench around my patio. I got an estimate from a landscaper -which made me realize that I know how to dig.

This is really lovely, the lighting too - I can feel the warmth from the eve sun!
Well done with patio.. we had a similar quote to remove old paving and put down new shingle in a small section of the garden - only talking a days work for 2 people and they quoted nearly £1.5k, not including materials! I wish I earned that amount a day.

So... one day we will do it ourselves, knees and backs allowing.
