Nigel ensconced in his office this morning. He worked in it for 15 years before a 6 month stint in a ‘commute to’ office and then lockdown. He did a little advice session for colleagues a year ago but now of course the whole country are experts. But obviously it’s the magnolia tree that is the star of the show at this point. It’s really huge now and we’re going to have to take advice on reducing it down a bit I think- in the meantime we’re keeping our fingers crossed that the frost forecast for the weekend doesn’t materialise be a the blossom will be toast if that happens.
Weather: very pleasant
Covid: the young renters next door but two are making up for lost time with their garden socialising!
Good thing: watching the birds from the summer house. They don’t know I’m there and got very close including the woodpecker.
It's glorious!
My first experience of magnolia blossom was in Prague in March 1995 at the Castle Gardens.
Allan worked in Prague for 6 months and had so much to show me when I went over for a long w/e before his return home. Love the memories.
That’s what you call a proper summer house! Mine will be an adapted garden shed...quite nice but it needs the door changing to a double one. This is a lovely garden...even the washing makes me feel nostalgic....I always hung mine out to dry but have had to dry every bit indoors for the last five months!
That magnolia is stunning!
I just adore your garden (oops, almost said yard!). You have created quite a little paradise, well, apart from the Nigel having to work...the magnolia is stunning.
it is a beautiful magnolia judith.
To beat the lockdown blues, we have been playing predict the number of magnolia trees we will see on our local well trodden "stay local" walks.
My conclusion is the older the house stock the more magnolia trees we see. Maybe it is to do with size of garden or perhaps magnolia's were a thing of the 60s/70s and not as popular now !
