A pair of swans at Jesus Lock are very successful parents. They raised 8 cygnets a couple of years ago and this year they have 7 very healthy looking offspring. They were all hanging around the 'feeding area' (officially discouraged by the council) which made it difficult to get a clean shot without concrete involved but the youngsters kept sticking their beaks under their wings and falling asleep. They had to keep waking up as they just drifted off down river otherwise. I cropped this to have just the one, in focus, cygnet but it the end I stuck his sister in as well - a mistake perhaps??
Nope, not a mistake at all! At first I thought synchronized swim-sleeping. It's so cute how they are in the same position. And the further being a bit blurry gives more depth to the shot. I love it!
Fuzzy and sleepy and cuddly little pair! So soft and cute. I don't think it was a mistake to include the sister...I am so thrilled to see a pair of baby swans as I have never seen baby ones before!
