I must say it was a slow walk this morning as Monty was very reluctant to walk anywhere even though the morning was still cool. He then got 'seen off' by swans that came over to hiss at him, chased along a fence by a determined cat, and glared at by these cows so maybe his 'sixth sense' had kicked in and he knew he wasn't going to be welcome!
You are brave walking a long this path with a dog & cattle! We have a public foot path near here & most folks tend to keep off in the summer when the cattle are out. I think they would be entitled to grumble as it spoils their walk & there should be a fence along the edge of the path. Perhaps you are on the other side of the river though !! Lovely shot ,I like the black one !
@happypat We were on the other side but you can walk on the meadow with the cows - just to the right there was a lady with a pram. Normally our meadows and parks have Red Polls on them as they're docile but I don't know if these are a different breed. They have a very big meadow but there was chaos last year as they invavded a play area and terrified the children.
I can understand Monty's reluctance to walk where he's harassed. I'd think twice about walking in an area where I was yelled at, chased and stared at. :) Although these two look relatively harmless despite the disapproving glare from the black one. I envy the interesting sights you have along your walks...you seem to have the perfect balance between city and countryside. I'd have to walk 50 miles or so before I came across a cow.
aw poor Monty! hope he got a big bone when he got home to make up for his rubbish day!! :o) great shot this - is this along the river towards Granchester? it reminds me of a walk my sister and I used to do when she was at Kings!
@sparkle Actually it's along the rowing route - past the Pike & Eel pub (as was) out to Bait's Bite Lock. There are cows out towards Granchester as well though - our 'off lead' dog walks are quite limited in summer!!
This photo is wonderful, love the reflections. Cows are one of my favourite animals :)
