The first of at least three pics I'm going to post taken in Barter Books in Alnwick. A shop which by itself was worth driving 4 and a half hours for. It's a secondhand book shop (plus a few vinyl records etc) in the old railway station building in Alnwick. It's huge, it has lovely quotes all over, it has a train set round the roof (pic to follow), they don't mind photos, it has a lovely coffee shop in the old waiting rooms, they let dogs in (not in the coffee shop!), if you spend £30 they knock money off and I found some mint photography books in there. Have I sold it to you yet? They also discovered the 'Keep Calm and Carry On' poster in a box of old books and hung it in a frame by the door. After lots of requests they printed it up on the mugs, tea towels etc that have proved so popular.
Oh heaven on earth !! I want to go now !! I have been to Alnwick but never found this gem but will do next time . Great photo of the corridor looking along at all the categories !
Our family has a bit of an obsession with book stores compounded by the fact we have lived in countries where they are a rarity. Every time we travel at least one bookshop must be found and canvased! this is such a great shot with all the catagories down the aisle.
Cool shot! I saw the place when we were leaving Alnwick, when it was too late for us to pop in. I hope to venture up north again & it will be on our list of things to do - along with another visit to the Tree House & gardens!
And it's the old Railway Station.. oh
