Making an entrance

The 'facade' theme is a great excuse for some touristy shots of Cambridge. This is the main gate at St John's College. It's hard to take a full shot as its tight location is made worse by renovation works across the road. Hence the converging lines. However, I wanted to show the whole thing (for a change - I may add some close ups as the details are very pretty). The statue is of the very pious Lady Margaret Beaufort who founded St John's and Christ's Colleges and as an astute politician was instrumental in her son, Henry VII, acquiring the throne. The heraldic creatures are 'Yales' - goat-like creatures with horns that can swivel in any direction!
wow that's beautiful, I love that door and those windows!

Beautifu gateway. Seeing the gateway reminds me I must make the effort to go to King's and listen to Evensong.

@decani I think that all the time!! And St John's has a beautiful choir and a more intimate chapel with less echo.
