A very cold night resulted in a rather disappointing amount of frostiness along The Backs, just a dusting on the lawn in front of St John's College. New Court here is known as the Wedding Cake because it's rather fancy. I seem to have inadvertently tilt-shifted some of the aconites - a disappointing shot but I nearly made Adam late for school because of it (too late for the first bus-stop, too late for the second choice and then stuck in traffic taking him myself) so it's got to go in!
Isn't this just a magnificent building, love that centre spire !!! It must be very inspiring to do well in Cambridge I think & the surroundings alone would make you feel you had achieved great things just to get to study there, which of course you have !!
Whats wrong with the pic? Looks like a deceptively lovely spring scene when really outside its bleedin freezin. At least it is here. You have got some grand architecture at your fingertips.
I like this picture, it's a nice angle, and there's a lot of width in it. I'm feeling sorry for the flowers, must be hard for them to survive in the cold we have now...
Love the traditional architecture... and I looked up what 'aconites' are... a relative of the buttercup plant... I rather like your pic and hope your son won't be too upset with you for getting him to school at the last minute!
Beautiful shot of the building and I think the soft focus of the flowers works. The aconities are always the very first I see in the garden. Love their brightness. A sign that others are o their way.
