The Wedding Cake by judithg

The Wedding Cake

New Court of St John's College is known as 'The Wedding Cake' because it's very fancy. Famously the clock tower doesn't have a clock and there is an apocryphal story that says that there was a race between St John's and Trinity next door to see who could build the first/tallest clock tower and win the right to install a clock. In fact Trinity's was installed two century's earlier by Richard Bentley (Master of Trinity and graduate of St John's) and it strikes twice - once for Trinity and once for St John's.
Great story and beautiful shot!!

Fun story. Love the bright blues in foreground and their soft focus and the wedding cake is an awesome structure. Were you lying on your belly to shoot it?

i like the tones in the wedding cake Judith

The tree frames the shot quite nicely but u need to 'bob down' just a tad more because part of the branch is blocking a bit of the 'cake' (just my opinion !!)

Well constructed landscape, with the branch helping to frame the picture.

@phil_howcroft You're absolutely right - I thought I'd managed to avoid the tree with another shot but I failed. No dogs allowed so no Monty but I'm a bit disabled by tendonitis in my shoulder so I'm blaming that for failing to contort myself adequately!!
