After paying for lunch we had to add a tally to the blackboard for ourselves. They also have a blackboard covered in the inventory of the equipment they've bought for the cafe and a day by day note of the accounts - they were running at a small profit today.
My friend's sandwich order got a bit lost and was late so they presented her with a Blue Ribband chocolate wafer on a plate to 'keep her going'. Two of the waitresses were wearing 'pineapple top' hats tied under their chins and the 'tips' bowl contained rolled up strips of paper with household tips printed on them. I did have an idea where I was going - anybody just wandering in off the street may have been a bit surprised!
@jlhopgood There you go - they did a small range of food and had a table full of old fashioned cakes - French Fancies, Tunnocks Marsh Mallows etc for afters. It would be fun to run for a month!
@johnnyfrs It's called Hunt and Darton and is open Wednesday to Sunday until May 27th, 100 Regent Street. I need to go back as I didn't read the newspaper, play with my food (instructions given) or try out the loos. It's nothing spectacular just quietly peculiar!!
@fueast Yes I failed there but I was worried I'd end up abandoning my friend as apparently they have 'dress your own' toilet roll dollies (as in those dollies you use to disguise your loo roll - well I'm guessing you don't but you know the type!)
Is 'dog' Monty !!! I have had a Tunnocks Marsh Mallow for my pudding tonight, I got a whole box from the cash & carry & we keep them in the spare fridge...yummy !
@happypat No - I'd better not tell Monty either or he'll be in there being a nuisance! I must admit I had a Tunnocks Caramel Wafer before I set off for the cafe - I was starving and we were meeting quite late!
