Just another quick upload from Paris - then I will stop blocking up your feeds. It takes a special type of person to tend to the personal needs of people living on the streets. This man was busy with his hair-cutting scissors. There are a lot of beggars in Paris and I couldn't work out who was genuine and who wasn't - there were mothers out in the cold with toddlers at night and it's very difficult to walk by - but then one woman got a call on her mobile and tried to hide it so she seemed professional. Helene says there are camps of people in a great deal of need - so many problems to sort out even in 'affluent Europe'.
I think we are all inclined to forget how lucky we are, sitting in our homes with internet connections and camera's forever at the ready. Thought provoking image..........I like it :)
It's good to know that some people do care as we never know what circumstances led people to live their lives on the street if they are indeed genuine! Nice capture
very 'reportage' judith. it's a difficult call when confronted by beggars in the street ... looks like the good Samaritan is trimming the man's eyebrows !
A very thought provoking shot! I was out with a friend last week and she took a very similar shot of a guy at a church door so it's all over the world isn't it. A friend who lived in Rome back in the 80's used to see the beggars get in to BMW's at the end of the day, lots looked as though they didn't have limbs but did. When I was in Paris back in the early 80's my husband almost lost his passport and wallet by a woman begging luckily I saw her doing it and grabbed her hand but it wasn't a nice experience.
