I haven't zoomed in too much as if I do it just looks too zoomed in! And anyway this demonstrates more how tiny these birds are. But I spotted him a mile off - I just wished I'd had my longer zoom with me because he sat long enough for me to get a few shots off. They tend to use the same perches so I will look again next time I go that way.
A male this time - @roachling pointed out that my last one was female as she had an orange lower beak.
I took a photo of a Kingfisher on our walk last Monday but as I had no decent zoom he turned out far too small to see. I do think they are quite bold if the path is any where near the place they hang out....ours didn't move at all & he was only on the other sude of the river. A thrill when you catch one of these ...great shot you got too!
They are so hard to capture. I have been trying for a while now. Also there have been some Bullfinch's this week but they keep hiding in the brambles !
It is in my dream list to see a kingfisher, how wonderful that you have and a fav, because it looks so beautiful sitting sitting in amongst those branches
