Bee Fly - Bombylius major

These strange flies have a very long proboscis ideal for extracting nectar from tubular wild flowers like ground ivy (which I posted on 10th April here http://365project.org/julienne1/365/2016-04-10 ) It's not a great photo but they do tend to move pretty fast!

I think its a pretty good picture...to capture the proboscis and the beating wings. Great detail and I'll certainly be looking out for them now.
