Waking up at 4:45 am, departing at 5:15 am, and waiting for hours for a sunrise . . . As one passerby noted upon seeing our tripods set up and facing the completely fogged over canyon, "You guys are certainly optimistic." Well, optimism didn't pan out for the sunrise or the after-sunrise light as the fog stubbornly lingered. But the photography at the Ponderosa Pines at the intersection of the Arizona Trail made for beautiful winter scenes. Here, Jane @jgpittenger is conferring with Adam Schallau, Grand Canyon Photographer https://adamschallau.com , about her capture of a very cool composition.
Nearly SOOC because I wanted to retain the foggy and wintery scene and not bring up any clarity or contrast.
Oh, dear, that's kind of funny though. I was planning on driving up to Flagtaff this last Tue/Wed, but decided against it due to the aforementioned stormy weather. Sounds like you at least got a good laugh out of it. I stayed home at caught up on some much neglected Netflix watching instead.
@blueberry1222 -- Krista! That would have been so fun if you had joined us! We fly home Sunday morning. The weather was stormy, rainy, snowy, windy -- basically COLD and nothing to see or photograph in the canyon. But when it lifted, we were able to enjoy the view and even sunset. It's still cold here, and windy when close to the rim, but it's worth it for the view. The weather is supposed to be better the next few days,.
@jyokota One of these days I need to catch up with you guys and do a photo shoot somewhere. You guys always seem to have fun and learn a lot from each other.
