Two Sides of a Lock. by ladymagpie

Two Sides of a Lock.

Another capture from my walk on the old canal and this time I'm stood on the bridge in the previous photograph. This disused lock needs a great deal of work and I wonder if it will be restored in my time.

What I did like is the comparison of the two sides of this lock. On the right is my footpath and everywhere is over grown and I would imagine rather dangerous as you can't see the lock edge. On the left someone has used the land and produced a wonderful vegetable garden.

Great idea but there would be one major problem to me - I don't eat greens. In fact if it doesn't run or breath I leave well alone.
I was admiring that veg patch before I read your commentary. I do eat greens but I'm far too lazy to grow them too!

Lovely shot. The lock is very overgrown, but so many of our disused waterways are being restored so there is hope.

A very pretty shot. Interesting how quickly nature takes over if we turn our backs for one minute. I guess its the 'greens' getting back at you ;-)

Your last sentence made me smile - lovely muted colours in your composition.

Stories and pictures of your canals are always so fascinating to us. We have some old and historic canals and locks in South Carolina, portions of which have been preserved in parks and historic sites.

Nicely captured - unfortunately, the wild part reminds me of my current garden area, but it's too cold to do anything about it!
